BLAISE B.
BIO
Blaise B. is a breathe of fresh air for many. At 21, he has made a name for himself as a true hip-hop artist in an age where commercialism, gimmicks and passionless music run seemingly boundless. He was raised on the South side of Chicago where he me and became close friends with the current members of LISTEN Entertainment. At an early age, before any of them had tried their hand in hip-hop, Blaise was involved in music programs where he played trumpet and baritone for several years. Growing up in what many consider to be the golden years of hip-hop Blaise was exposed to hugely influential hip-hop pioneers. Among his favorites were The Roots, Outkast, Slick Rick, Busta Rhymes, NaS, and Tribe Called Quest- mostly because of their originality in composition and lyrical tenacity Blaise’s first year in high school (2000), a friend Donnie Smith aka Pro Black encouraged him to pursue emceeing after noticing his knack for spoken word and poetry. The rest was history. Blaise quickly became quite ill with the lyrics, blending a brand of powerful youthful energy with a stern, adult delivery that was at the very least hard to ignore. The young imaginative lyricist is known amongst friends and fans for his insight into black inner-city life, spirituality, and sociology. But perhaps more so than all of those, he is accredited for his consistency and innovation.Blaise is a member of Chicago’s LISTEN Entertainment, The A-Team, and is closely affiliated with the members of Gotta E.A.T. records. He has won several competitions in the Illinois are (most recently the Chicago Review Summer ‘06 Dusable Museum), opened for acts like Sadat X, Lupe Fiasco, JUice and SB, and performed with Common. Blaise has completed 3 solo projects including 2 demos and a mixtape and is soon to release another demo and mixtape in 2007. As far as the future of Chicago hip-hop you can expect Blaise B. to be a significant contributor.
